Daniel Ibañez

Daniel Ibáñez is an architect and holds a PhD in design from Harvard University. He has recently been appointed director of the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC). His professional, academic and research focus is on the architectural, urban and territorial implications of using renewable materials in construction. Daniel is building Spain's tallest industrialized solid wood social housing building 'Terrazas para la Vida' from the architectural firm he founded and co-directs Urbanitree. Among other publications, Daniel is author of the book Wood Urbanism: From the Molecular to the Territorial (Actar, 2019). In addition, he is a senior urban consultant at the World Bank, advising governments and international institutions on wood housing and wood urban development.
